Glimm installed a new 360 Large 3D Holographic hologram , (indoor and outdoor use ) at event in Singapore .
The Material we are using is different then the mesh materials what is provided by the internet as the materials we use are more :
- Coated with silver layer so better performance and brightness
- Higher resolution as the maze are smaller and still 100% see through
- The material cannot break or be damaged so its useable for out door and indoor
- We have it in stretch and non stretch
- We have 9meter in width x 100 m without seams so better image quality
The material is easy to mount to any structure and for the large hologram we use most of the time truss system or we hang it down with some weight below and we can do it as well with an electric roller binders .
The shipping is not expensive as it’s a very light material and can most of the time shipped door to door .
Pepper Scrim (sometimes called holo gauze, holographic mesh, or projection foil) is a transparent, highly reflective mesh used in large-scale illusions that look like 3D holograms floating in mid-air.
It’s the core surface in a Pepper’s Ghost illusion for projecting lifelike, ghost-like visuals — often mistaken for real holograms.
the key is the contnet and use black background content to create the 3D illusion
What Is a Pepperscrim-Based 360° Hologram?
Pepperscrim is a specialized transparent gauze or foil material used to create large-scale Pepper’s Ghost illusions without relying on angled glass. It can stretch vertically, eliminating the need for a mirrored pit behind the stage.
- Available in widths of up to 7 m or more, with custom lengths beyond 30 m—ideal for truly immersive 360° environments.
- It is ultra-lightweight (about 14–17 g/m²), flame-retardant (optional), and offers ~78% transparency and a gain around 2.0–2.4.
How 360° Pepper’s Ghost Works with Scrim
Multiple projectors project digital visuals onto the scrim surface from hidden angles (either front or rear projection).
- When tensioned taut (using frames or trusses), the scrim becomes nearly invisible, allowing only the projected content to appear as if floating in mid‑air.
- This setup supports 360° wrap-around holographic visuals, making it ideal for immersive stage performances, product showcases, and brand activations.
Typical Scale & Specifications
Widths: Usually 5 m to 9 m; custom sizes (e.g. 8 × 30 m) are available.
- Transmittance: ~97% with optical foil variants, or ~78% with gauze versions.
- Viewing Angle: Around 150–160°, offering good coverage for multiple projectors.
- Gain: Typically between 2–2.4 (higher gain means brighter reflections).
Best Practices & Use-Cases
Tight tensioning is essential—stretch the scrim flat on all sides to avoid ripples or visible mesh.
- Projector power matters: Use high-lumen projectors (>5,000 lm) and crush blacks in the content for clarity and vibrancy.
- Controlled lighting behind the scrim enhances effect—ambient light on the audience side should be minimized.
- Common applications include concert visuals, live-stage effects, product launches, museum installations, and XR/live-camera integration.
Key Considerations
Black Background Content: All visuals must be rendered on black to blend with surroundings
- Lighting Control: No front lights; directional lighting only
- Scrim Quality: Needs to be ultra-transparent but reflective (like Holo-Gauze)
- Synchronization: Multi-projector sync if using multiple sides
- Calibration: Warping and mapping visuals for distortion-free illusion
Recommendation :
Brightness : 10,000-20.000 lumen
resolution : 4K preferred
lens : short throw
Example : Barco /Christy /Panasonic 4K
price point : 100-400 m2 depending on size quantity and location and set up and light conditions
